Whisper's First Child Academy of Hope is a nursery and primary school for the children in Kagoma Gate village, Kakira Sub-County - the poorest village in Jinja district.

When Whisper's school opened in November 2011, Kagoma Gate village had never had a school before. Parents, mostly farmers and sugar cane workers, forced their children to work.

The school has become very successful and at our parents' meeting in February 2013, we received parents from surrounding villages requesting us to take their children to our school. Parents in Kagoma Gate can now send children to the school for a registration fee of only 10.000 Ugandan shillings ($2,30p/$4).

We know how important it is for a child to be motivated and to be able to concetrate in class.

To ensure the children perform at their best, we provide them with free porridge and sugar every day.

Children also get free uniforms and all the necessary stationery.

The children are performing brilliantly and recently one of the parents donated us a piece of land next to his house for further development, commenting, "I have older children going to a different school, but my youngest one at Whisperís school is doing better than them."

In January 2014 Whisper completed an additional two classrooms to educate twice the number of children.
